Rose Clifford's Reunion

On July 21–23, 2006, the National Nurses in Business Association co-sponsored an event with Rose Clifford’s Internships in rural Cynthiana, Kentucky. The event is presented annually and provides quality education in a unique environment.

The event was housed in a unique barn-like structure that was conducive to
learning in a relaxed atmosphere.

Health Reimbursement Arrangement

It has become popular by employers to reimburse employee(s) for all their medical expenses, not just health insurance premiums. This is due to the IRS blessing (RR 71-588 and TAM TR-32-242-93), the Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA). The employer treats the reimbursement as an expense on his schedule C or F.  The employee receives tax free reimbursement of his medical expenses.

An employer benefits with an individual HRA if he pays his own medical bills and employs his spouse.  Without an HRA he receives a tax break from federal income tax for health insurance premiums only.  With an HRA he receives a tax break from federal income tax and FICA for health insurance premiums, out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles, and just about any other medical expense you can imagine.  The average tax savings for an individual HRA is $2,100.  The employer with two or more employees can set up a small group HRA, eliminate his group health insurance, and pay all, or none, of different categories of medical expense; or he can set up a one-limit HRA to allow a fixed sum that his employees can use for any verifiable medical expenses.

Sole proprietors, partnerships, and corporations can set up HRAs.  The benefit to each varies with the tax law.  There must be at least one employee, an employment paper trail (W-2, 941), and a plan document.  The plan document can be obtained from accountants, tax preparers, or insurance agents.
Set up a HRA and enjoy the tax savings.
